Love came down at Christmas |
|
Hello everyone.
Well, 2020 has been quite a year. It has been a year full of emotions, fear, uncertainty, loneliness, but also joy, encouragement and love. I want to say a personal thank you to all of you for all your words of encouragement and support as we have worked to keep you informed, connected and enthused over the past nine months. It has been simply outstanding and very much appreciated.
As I said, a year full of feelings, and I wonder how you are feeling today? Now be honest!
God wants to know how we are feeling, and He wants us to be honest with Him.
The other day I was sitting ready to spend time with God and I didn't really feel like it. I was wondering what I could do to pass the time. Sometimes, especially at the moment, we are too busy just trying to fill the day. We try to be upbeat, content, coping when we are far from it. As Christians, we know that God loves us, that as we prepare for the birth of His Son, He is in control but sometimes we allow the stresses of every day to overwhelm us and forget that simple truth: God loves me. He loves me so much that He sent His Son to be just like me, to experience all the emotions that I am experiencing. Love did indeed come down that first Christmas.
I woke up this morning to a wee rain shower, more rain, another shower.
But a wee shower was just what I needed today. Soft rain falling, falling quietly on us, making us aware of the Lord's presence with us, refreshing our souls, giving us a sense of peace and security, knowing that God is indeed with us.
He is listening to us, to our needs in the moment. In the busyness of this time of year, let's just relax and enjoy the wee showers of blessing, the sense of peace, the certainty that God is working His purpose out, He loves us and is with us in our situation, whatever that is.
In Ezekiel 34:26 God says: "I will bless them, I will send down showers in season, there will be showers of blessing."
As we wait in hope and expectation for the coming of His Son, our Saviour, may you know God's richest blessing this Christmas and throughout 2021.
